JOHN CARTER

We were thrilled to have the opportunity to collaborate with director Andrew Stanton and his team at Pixar. The main title drew inspiration from antique photography, telescopic lenses, and 19th century cartography of the red planet, organically linking these elements together into a cohesive transition from outer space to 19th century New York.

The end titles were conceptualized as a deconstructed version of a pin board that appears in the film. This ambitious (and stereoscopically rich) sequence features original Devastudios artwork, photography, and assets from the movie, literally linked together with red CG twine. Combining a rich visual palate with seamless animation transitions, the sequence’s imagery traces John Carter’s search for a magical medallion on Earth.
