AQUAMAN – VFX & Graphics

Creating the motion design for the Aquaman campaign was an intense undertaking. Our artists blended the alchemy of visual effects with pristine design to craft these distinct graphics. Our Warner Bros. client, director James Wan and the creative team at Statement Advertising all wanted water to play a central role in the main title.

Water simulations are notoriously difficult to art-direct, so our first step was to establish what kind of water would work to form the logo. Our CG department ran dozens of simulations, focusing in on a look that would give the Atlantean logo a massive scale.

Fluid Dynamics

Our CG artists had to strike a balance between creating a dramatic splash and controlling the dynamic forces that drove the collision between the water and the logo.

Our 500+ processor render farm made rendering these shots possible in the tight timeframe, empowering both our creative team and the client to dream up ever more intricate graphics.

Submerged Logos

For a special logo reveal sequence on a subsequent trailer, we created an entire environment complete with a glistening aquamarine ocean, palm-studded islands, flocks of sea birds and sand reefs.

The look of the environment was art-directed based on reference videography shot by director James Wan in the Caribbean.

Our artists sculpted massive studio emblems under the surface of the ocean, making the logo reveal an organic part of this fully CG fly-over shot.
